A Tiny Wii in My Pants

I desperately want to get my hands on a tiny Wii. …That is to say a cell phone with GestureTek’s new mobile motion sensing technology. What did you think I meant? Where Nintendo uses gyroscopes to sense X,Y and Z movement, GestureTek has crafted ingenious software which employs camera phone functionality. It works like this: after starting up a motion-sensitive application (such as a bowling game), you are asked to hold your phone still and hit enter. This centers an image on your camera. To throw your bowling ball, simply toss your arm back, sling it forward and hit enter again. The program, using the camera in your phone, sees which direction you move your hand and throws the ball thusly. It is like a tiny Nintendo Wii sitting in your pocket. Other applications for motion sensitive mobile technology include functionality through Google Maps in which tilting and moving your phone scrolls and zooms over a map. A video demonstration of this technology can be found at gesturetekmobile.com. So like I said previously, I desperately want to get my hands on a tiny Wii.
