You’ll never hear Josh Montgomery talk about Josh Montgomery. This humble folk singer/songwriter from Greenville hates when artists’ speak in third person. But he’s not afraid to share his story through his music. Montgomery has been writing and recording songs in his bedroom for years. Recently, he’s upgraded to studios. In fact, all the music featured on his MySpace page was recorded at either OMG studios or Wholenin9 studios. Montgomery’s influences range from Less Than Jake to Matt Costa. He enjoys “most music,” which is evident in his diverse tracks. “Let Me Know When” is playful like the romantic tunes of John Mayer and Jack Johnson. On “Save Me,” Montgomery channels 311-style reggae. A bluesier side emerges on the track “Better Than You.” In concert, Montgomery likes to mix it up. He promotes his own material, while paying homage to some unexpected artists. Montgomery’s been known to break out in an Alicia Keys’ cover from time to time.
