College town grooves

Two has become six. The Benjy Davis Project began as a duo in 2001 in Baton Rouge, La. Founding members Davis and Mic Capdevielle added four others to create the sextet. Over the years, the group has produced four albums, the last of which was released in 2007. Their sound has evolved into a positive, pop version of classic rock. The Project’s roots are evident as Davis sings of love, life and the sweet, Southern moon. Harmonica and violin mix seamlessly into the background, accompanying The Project’s soft guitar and persistent drum beats. Davis’ vocals mimic John Mayer’s, an artist that the group has toured with. This spring, the band will support their newest album, “Dust” with a tour of college towns.
