Straight from the tough streets of Boston, “Gone Baby Gone” has made it to Clemson. “Gone Baby Gone” is the first film directed by Ben Affleck. The story revolves around the abduction of four-year-old Amanda McCready from her home in the rough Dorchester neighborhood of Boston. When she goes missing, detectives (Morgan Freeman and Ed Harris) cover the case, but have trouble communicating with tough locals in the neighborhood. After few leads in the case, Amanda’s frustrated family (the mother played by Amy Ryan) looks elsewhere for help. They hire two local private investigators (Casey Affleck and Michelle Monaghan) to get to the bottom of the situation. The case gets complicated as pedophiles, drug dealers and gangs come into the picture. “Gone Baby Gone” is based on the Dennis Lehane novel of the same name. The film’s U.K. release was delayed indefinitely because of its similarity to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. Amy Ryan’s performance as Amanda’s mother has been nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar. “Gone Baby Gone” will play at the McKissick Theater in the Hendrix Student Center on Jan. 27 at 9 p.m. Admission is free to Clemson University students with a valid CUID.
