There is a distant rumbling all through the land; men will do well to heed it. The first “Sex and the City” movie is set to hit theaters on May 30, and the summer blockbuster looks to get its first introduction to the other gender in terms of box office for the first time in history.

You may be familiar with the show on which it is based, an obscure little program that aired sporadically on HBO between 1998 and 2004. I don’t know the character names or subject material of the show, but I believe it might have to do with career women in New York who sit around a table eating lunch and discussing their sex lives. It’s the “Golden Girls” of the millennium.

The fact is, “Sex and the City” is the female “Star Wars,” complete with an elaborate mythology and galaxy of characters all its own. Guys, you might want to brush up on your “Sex” education, because the women in your life (wives, girlfriends, mothers, sisters, etc.) will turn upon you with all the wrath of a pimply fanboy clad in a Darth Vader mask if you show ignorance or (worse yet) disdain for the show and movie. I’m just saying, if you want to have sex this year, you might want to take your lady friend to the film. If you take her to see “Sex,” she might just go to see the new Indiana Jones movie with you. It can’t hurt to try.
