The Jessica Simpson effect

Tom Brady has Giselle Bunchen to go home to after the Super Bowl, so I’m not sure he’s crying in his helmet. But the upset that the New York Giants just handed the “perfect season” New England Patriots can’t have left a good taste in his mouth.
Why is it that, the minute an athlete crosses paths with a celebrity, they suddenly start to suck? Distraction? Drain on their energy? It’s hard to say, but this season has been memorable for one particularly ill-timed hook-up.
Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys could have been in the Super Bowl…if not for Jessica Simpson. And her hot pink Cowboys jersey, which she was happy to flash for the cameras. I believe that was the worst game the Cowboys had all season.
I bring this up because TMZ (the classiest tabloid outfit, he said sarcastically) did a smirking assessment of how much more “glamorous” Brady was compared to his opposite in the Bowl, Eli “Not Peyton” Manning. Well, Brady might have Giselle to go home to, but Eli’s got the biggest upset in the history of sports and a very nice ring. Which one is better off?
You make the call.
