I love skirts. They are classic and extremely versatile. There are so many styles and choices, it can be hard to choose. So, let’s talk skirts.
Skirts can be super-dressy or cute and casual. Designers make sporty skirts and rock ‘n’ roll inspired skirts. There is a style for everyone, everyday and every occasion.
For slick business chicks, the best choice is the timeless pencil skirt. Pencil skirts are great because they work for business casual but can also be taken to a nighttime party scene with a change of jewelry. Pencil skirts, when fitted correctly, are flattering on everyone and can help elongate the look of your legs. They’re also fun with embellishment, like pinstripes or small sequins.
Miniskirts have been around for years. Obviously the tight, snakeskin look is over, but denim still makes a great mini. Dress it up with a button-up blouse or use it as a cover up on the beach. Tailored, dress minis can also be appropriate in the right setting. And while mini means short, it doesn’t mean loose.
Not exactly a skirt person? I have just the skirt for you. I recently found this comfortable, reasonable cotton/spandex blend skirt. It is knee length and comes in every color. You can also choose flirtier hemlines with a jagged cut or a-line. Look for this awesome style in stores like J Crew or large sporting good stores.
If you are looking for something elegant for a night on the town, try lacy, flowery skirts. They look great with jeweled flats or spicy heels to heat it up. Knee length is always good, but a little longer can dress it up. Local boutiques have the best selection of unusual, gorgeous skirts.
These are just a few of the many choices out there. Skirts are girly and fun and one of my favorite things. There’s one for every occasion — if you are willing to look.
