Although you may not always consider going out to Pendleton for lunch, you should take the time to visit The Pendleton Cafe and Coffees Company featured in Southern Living magazine. This hot spot offers moderately priced classic deli items with a twist. Here, the chicken salad gets a sprinkling of dill; the grilled cheese boasts cheddar, American and Muenster; and the pasta salad is dressed in a light and spicy citrus vinaigrette. The menu also tempts diners with a wide range of gourmet coffee drinks and pastries. They make one exception to their daily 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. schedule; the first Friday night of every month local poets come and present their work. Go to read or just to listen. Although the menu and the works displayed by local artists change on a monthly basis, the modern, Southern charm of The Pendleton Cafe and Coffees Company is something you can always expect.
